when using a flash (dSLR), the ugly overlightning can be removed by reducing the flash power (software correction).
Also, it is important to shoot with a big as possible diafragma combined with a shutter speed of 10-25 (depends strongly on your diafragma opening of course). Finally, exposure should be around 0 (or maybe +1). Dont forget to set the ISO on 800 or 1600.
It should also be possible to not even use a flash, but my experiences so far always resulted in failure due to the need of long shutter times.
